3 tips for better sleeping posture

Written by Chiropractor Rohan Jhanji

Sleeping on our stomach is not great for our spines and can often result in back pain!
Here are some tips to help change your sleeping position:

1. Start by lying on your side and place pillows (normal or body pillows) in front as well as behind you so you're sandwiched in between them. This will help prevent you from turning onto your stomach during sleep.

2. Use a thicker pillow underneath your head as this will not only better support your neck but also stop you from turning onto your stomach.

3. Try to become accustomed to sleeping on your side before attempting to sleep on your back, as this is often too drastic a change for your body to adapt to.

Last but not least be patient with yourself and stay the course as changing your sleep posture can take weeks if not months.
